Departure of Ibu Sri Soedewi Samsi

The Titian Foundation regretfully announces the passing of Mrs. Ir. Sri Soedewi Samsi, the author of Techniques, Motifs & Patterns Batik Yogya & Solo on Sunday, 14 August 2011 in Yogyakarta
May she rest in peace.
Despite our great sadness at her departure, we feel very fortunate that we have managed to publish two editions of her batik book: Teknik and Ragam Hias Batik Yogya dan Solo (Indonesian) and Techniques, Motifs & Patterns Batik Yogya & Solo. These two books are a superb legacy for younger generations and will ensure the preservation and development of batik as a fundamental part of Indonesian culture.
As a member of “Sekar Jagad” and small colleague of Ibu Dewi I am very sad that we will not meet her anymore in the World Batik Summi Conferece 2011. I am sure coming generations will love her work. Neng dari German
