Ideally, CLC’s will serve as a melting pot for the communities where they exist in order to allow their people (of all age levels) to enhance their knowledge, skills and horizons. In accordance to our Vision, we strongly believe that building CLC’s is the perfect way to improve the education level of the entire community because they welcome everyone with a limited access to better education facilities to utilize the centre for their own benefit. At the moment, Titian Foundation has developed and is managing two CLC’s in two different villages. Both are allocated in Central Java Province. One is in Bayat, Klaten and the other one is in Gemawang, Semarang.
Bayat CLC

The CLC in Bayat was initialised through the development of the Bayat School Library. The visitors are mainly school-age children from surrounding villages. They are utilizing the centre for after school activities. These children are eligible to access the library facilities and attend regular activities such as: story-telling sessions, brain exercise games, writing competitions as well as having access to the rich collection of books and toys.
The older community members are the next target visitors. Titian is slowly persuading them to utilise the centre for their community activities –especially those which are able to stimulate them to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Gemawang CLC
The second CLC project is in Gemawang village, in the regency of Semarang, Central Java. Led by a progressive village chief, community members are very keen to enhance prosperity levels and enthusiastically welcome idea of developing a CLC. We hope that the tobe CLC will provide them the necessary tools to help them make their dreams come true.
This Integrated Community Learning Centre developed on a 2,000 sqm plot of land. The area consists of two separate rooms for Skills Library and Community Centre. The area include a gift shop to sell and promote the local business. The forecasted budget is IDR 1,2 including furniture, books, computers and a sustainability programme. Whilst a small part budget has been raised, we are still seeking donors help with the remaining funds needed.
