Rumah Cikini Opens Its Doors

Rumah Cikini

Located in Cikini in the heart of old Jakarta in a Dutch colonial house, Rumah Cikini houses a gift shop and gallery, café and meeting room.

Batik and ceramics designed and produced by Titian Foundation students and villagers in Bayat, central Java, are complemented by products from other NGOs such as Torajamelo and House of Lawe focused on preserving the arts and crafts of Indonesia and encouraging community enterprise.

Rumah Cikini is effectively a ‘home’ for small and medium size enterprises that create great quality products but struggle to bring them to market. By displaying and selling them at Rumah Cikini, they gain exposure and achieve the sales they need in order to expand. This approach is at the heart of Rumah Cikini’s mission.

Rumah Cikini is also collaborating with renowned Indonesian ceramics specialist F. Widayanto whose products are on sale at the gallery. Widayanto is involved in helping Titian Foundation students learn the artistic and commercial implications of the ceramics business through internships at his workshops in Tapos and Tanah Baru and Jakarta.

Because all profits are donated to the Titian Foundation, shopping at Rumah Cikini is a wonderful way for visitors to contribute to the foundation while also buying unique products which also make wonderful gifts.

The café looks out over the lush garden, making it an inspiring place to meet friends or hold business meetings – needless to say there’s also complimentary wi-fi. The café serves morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea Monday to Saturday – with both traditional Indonesian food and western dishes available.

For those wanting to hold more formal meetings Rumah Cikini has a fully-equipped meeting room which can hold up to 20 guests. Catering can also be provided – making it perfect for workshops and seminars as well as board meetings.

We look forward to welcoming you very soon!
